Winter Gardening in Canada

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

Winter in Northern Canada is cold and snowy.  Time for the green thumb to get itchy now that the holiday season is over.  I have the most beautiful container gardens around my yard and deck.  In my mind that is.  Those beautiful seed and garden catalogs have me convinced in January that I can do all these projects and mine will be just as resplendent.

What a wonderful way to look forward to the sun's warmth, the smell of the ground as it thaws and the hope springing eternal that this is the year I will beat all other years for my gardening success.

Fortunately July is far enough away for me not to believe anything but!

These are from bulbs from my late parent's garden so I have a part of them with me always and my daughter wants some when she puts in her flower garden later this year.
