Homemade Tin Man Costume
Friday, September 10, 2010
A very popular Halloween costume theme each year is Wizard of Oz. It's a great theme that allows lots of creativity and different versions because of the different versions of the movie. This makes it a perfect homemade halloween costume because you don't have to follow a specific pattern or look.
To create a homemade Tinman costume you will need the following items
-
silver pants, shirt and boots
-
silver face paint
-
large funnel
-
Cardboard
-
Tin foil
The first thing you need to do is assemble the clothing for the tinman. If you have silver pants, shirts and boots then great! If you don't then it's time to get creative or shopping. We recommend checking out your local thrift-store. If you can't find any after that you can either spray pain silver onto old clothing (smelly) or glue tinfoil to your clothes (noisey).
Next you'll need your tin man helmet/hat. A large funnel wrapped in tin-foil works really well.
Now you'll need your tinman axe. You can create this from cardboard, tin-foil and glue. Be creative and come up with a nice looking wood-chopping axe.
Finally, you'll need to paint your face silver.
All in all this costume should cost less than $15 to make and can turn out quite well. You will definitely save money compared to a purchased tin man costume.
