Blog: Transition To Retirement And Beyond

Hubby retires in 3 years. We are about to begin a Transition To Retirement Allocated Pension Plan. That means income drops but we still have access to funds if we need them. Hence lowering the budget to meet the income.

Organizing The Budget And Price Book
Monday, March 15, 2010

We are on countdown to retirement. In Australia you can set up a Transition To Retirement so that when you retire the transition goes smoother. It's also a way to organize your finances so you know what kind of income you are getting from your Superannuation etc. We went to see a Financial Advisor, the same one that many at Hubby's place of employment are with. The meeting went well. Now he is coming to see us on the 25th with a plan of action and we will go through everything and either say yah or nah. I have to say I am a little apprehensive about it all, but then it's something that will come whether I want to put my head in the sand of not.

So Hubby is working for money, and I am working to handle it. Hence a budget and a Price Book and strategies to make the dollar go further.

About Me:

Happily married to Hubby. We live in a small community at the beach in north Queensland Australia. We live quiet and simple lives with simple tastes. Hubby is looking forward to retirement so he can tinker in the shed. I am looking forward to much of the same as I'm doing now. I'm a homemaker who grows vegetables, reads books, walks and goes to Church.
