SuperBowl recipes

With the big game one week away I thought I would share a couple of recipes, just for fun!
Shrimp Dip
1 can deveined shrimp
Shrimp sauce
1 8 oz. cream cheese
Drain shrimp. Mix shrimp and cream chese to form a ball. Top with shrimp sauce. Serve with Townhouse crackers.
I have also made it in a pan spread each ingredient on top of each other, but the ball looks fancier.
Bleu Cheese Ball
2 8 oz cream cheese
1 wedge of bleu cheese
Worcestershire sauce
Chopped nuts
Mix 2 packages of cream cheese and bleu cheese. Add a few drops of Worcestershire sauce. Form in ball. Refrigerate until solid. Roll in nuts.
Cranberry-Pear Punch
2 c. cranberry-apple juice
2 c. or 12 oz. pear nectar
2 c. ginger ale
Mix together and chill.
I love winter because it makes me want to cook and bake more. Depending on who is coming over, I will bake a ham for sandwiches offering various breads and spreads. I will make potato salad and a relish tray. My other menu ideas are cooking a turkey for hot sandwiches and making cranberry salad or having a chili bar with a giant pot of chili and such additions as macaroni noodles, oyster crackers, shredded cheese and onions.
Anyway I love making parties of all kinds, birthday, holiday, football, Oscar night. Even when I have lean financial times I can still find good things to make.
Another thing that works great when the parents bring kids to the SuperBowl parties is to have a choice of 2 dvd movies to watch and set up a game/card playing table and a puzzle table. Hard to believe even video addicted kids can have old fashioned fun! It is great for them!
I can talk about parties too much so I will end now and wish everyone a happy and blessed week!
