better late than never

I just joined the site and found your post. I used to have guinea pigs and could help with specific questions if you have them or you could log onto yahoo and there is a Cavy forum which is for guinea pig owners that would tell you more than you ever wanted to know about them. (type guinea pig forum)There are pictures of homes, threads about emergency care and daily feeding, cleaning love etc. So even if you want to bookmark it incase you have a question on the weekend or late at night when no one seems to be around it is a great resource. Best wishes to you. They are a great friend for many years to come. Remember you get back what you put into them though. Handle them and let them run around outside of the cage as much as possible, even on your bathroom floor while you sit with them is fun.

Read at potty time to make child stay seated longer
Tuesday, April 06, 2010 | By geobick

Though I did not have any issues potty training both my kids, I can give you a couple of tips on how I trained both a boy and later a girl. I purchased a little plastic potty for my 2 year-old son, and brought it along with some of his books into the bathroom. Whenever I needed to go, my kid would go in with me and sit on the potty to "keep Mommy company" -- I read my magazine while he read books (or rather, pretended to read) and also went pee and poop. There was never a struggle. The process took less than a month. I rewarded their success with big kids underwear. I told each of them if they went in their new underwear, back to diapers it would be. Neither of my kids ever had pooping accidents and they're both great readers. Good Luck!

Hi, starting a blog about this subject might not be the best way to get your questions answered. This blog site doesn't have nearly the readership that we have at the parent site, ThriftyFun.com. Your membership works there just as well as it does here. Here is the link if you want to post a question there:

http://www.thriftyfun.com/post_request.ldml

Here are a couple of posts that we have had answered in the past, maybe there will be some good advice.

Good luck! I fought both of my boys on potty training. Just keep working at it.

What do you mean I am not the only one who starts things and then jumps to another project? All this time I thought I was special, boy you burst my bubble!
Isn't it the truth, too little time and it is getting shorter every day, sometimes I think that is why I feel I need to start some new hobby before I am not able to do it! Thanks for letting me know there are more out there like me. Good ludck on the painting project. Are you a quilter as I am by any chance?

Isn't it the truth, it is so hard not to do things for them but they can't learn if they don't for themselves mistakes or not. Now weren't our mothers smart? When did they get that way?
Just a thought would your daughter be able to do a scavenger hunt with you if you made flash cards. One with socks on it and one with a picture of your couch then one with a picture of your washer then one with her with her socks putting them in the washer. You could practice with her and give her some kind of reward she likes when she makes the connection. Like I said only a thought from a fellow TF friend trying to make life a little easier for another Mother. Take care and thanks again for reading my blog.
