What a neat way to make useful something that has been spurned by the Imperial Cats in our lives! :-) Begonia

Welcome Back!

Good to hear that you are busy and working. It seems like a lot of us are on a money diet! We too enjoy the old movies. I pick them up on VHS for 25 and 50 cents these days. I buy the oldies because I like to watch them like some people like to eat mashed potatoes and gravy for supper on a cold winter night--you just get a taste for the particular mood that particular movie provides. You can't get that randomly from TMC. We also watch a lot of older TV shows for free on crackle.com and hulu.com. Imdb.com is also a good source of free tv, movies, and trivia. We've been watching The Greatest American Hero lately (pure 1980s cheese). Remember that one? We also get many movies and TV shows free from the library. We just went to the "cheap seats" for the first time recently--$2.50 for a matinee. There is just something about the big screen. Begonia

Yup - you CAN be frugal in the big city - altho you are right, no chickens here! (But urban gardening seems to be catching on...) And finding a good deal is such fun, isn't it! A constant source of amusement...

Question

This is great! Would you mind if I my parks department brochure project? I'm taking a class and we have to give back by doing a helpful brochure. Mine is on crafts to do with your children out of garden plant items. This is going to be a great project to do with my son then he can watch it grow!

First, how old are both of you? Good father...are you talking about a child in addition to one on way? How far along are you? Post me a message with the answers and I'll get back to you.

Plastic as a weed barrier
Tuesday, April 20, 2010 | By begonia

Sure--people use plastic all the time as a weed barrier. Weeds can't come through it, and it easy to cut opening in for planting. The only drawback is that it eventually gets brittle with extremes of temp. and especially if the sun hits it.
I use cardboard or jute-backed carpet (jute side up) with mulch on top: Cardboard for flower or vegetable plantings and carpet around shrubs and trees.
Sounds like you are making good use of what you have! Begonia

The Stress

I just take it as it comes,I look at it in a comically way,I feel for her more than myself-she doesn't want to be that way,she just is,I just yes her to death, and most imporantly I listen,I don't judge her,I let her think she is in control of the "crisis".

Passing on magazines...
Friday, April 16, 2010 | By hoptownracer1

When my friends and I are through looking through a stack of magazines, we leave them at the local laundry mats. They always get taken, and we are glad to give them something to read as they wait for their laundry.
