Just wanted to say Thank You for sharing that wonderful tip.

Such Good Advice

I, too, find that it is very important to know the current price of items that you buy regularly or are considering buying. I use that knowledge to make informed buying decisions at garage sales, thrift shops, and liquidators, as well as when shopping in regular stores. That frugal classic, The Tightwad Gazette, has a good-sized article on developing your own price book. I own the complete edition, but most well-stocked public libraries will have it as well. You Came to the Right Place for Answers

There are lots of places online to go for coupons. You can Google on coupons or read Pam's blog, Pam's Penny Pinching with Style, right here. She has a lot of good tips for where to shop to get products cheaply and is also the Freebie Queen--Pam, I am not worthy!

Check out my blog, My Little Farm in Town, for getting garden stuff cheap and cold framing, do-it-yourself, and substitutes for stuff you might otherwise buy. I've also written about bent and dent food shopping and cheap local food sources that are a tad below the radar but can still be found if you know what to look for.

Check out the more recent posts because some have concerned winterizing and ways to save on your heat bill (besides just lowering the thermostat). Some of the women contributing are at least 60 years old and have a lot of experience to share.

Sounds like you have the right attitude. I am sure that you are going to be successful. Begonia

Even after just a few days of using natural treatments (coffee/tea/yogurt/coconut oil), my scalp seems MUCH BETTER. I screwed it up over the summer various ways - even by wearing visors - and didn't treat my scalp until it got bad. Won't do that again. Thanks for the referral to the soap - I will see if I can get some. Ugh, I just have to wait until everything grows back IN properly. If it's not one thing, it's something else!

Thanks for the Tip!

I never thought about Craig's list. I forget about it during the summer because of all the garage sales I go to! I'll have to check it out. Begonia

for the 2nd time, I am 30!
Friday, October 01, 2010 | By MzScarlett

Noticed you said "pushing 60" with both feet; I turned 30 for the SECOND time in April; what a wonderful year it has been! Doing all kinds of different things: just had a "dinasour egg" tonight: never even heard of them before!
Painted my mobile; made a dripper for my bird bath; made a secret garden you can only see if you feed chocolate to me!
I can't wait to see what I am going to be up to when i turn 30 for the THIRD time around!
I have seen birds I have never seen before in my life; where I am living THIS year I am right in the path of the migrating birds! Have heard the most incredibly beautiful songs from birds; seen a red tailed hawk the size of a golden eagle! for REAL!
My dog's name is Peanut; no poop to scoop; no need to feed; no need to sneeze, doesn't affect my allergies! No need to listen to the neighbors harp, cuz this pug of mine, doesn't even bark! (he is made of resin!)
How wonderful it must be to have REAL dogs! glad to hear that yours are doing much better!

hurray for you!

It's been proven for decades that organic farming has always yielded 3 xs the amount grown in any size area; and that it also produces a inch of topsoil in 50 years whereas it takes nature 6000 years to do so.
The food is nutricious and delicious! the same as range free chickens and other animals are so incredibly delicious that you wonder WHAT on earth they could possibly have done to the food to make it so horrid?
(you do NOT want to know the answer to that!)
Democracy WORKS by "exploitation" sadly: which is the targeting and harming of us the people for THEIR personal profit and THEIR personal gain; (which is a crime, BTW) and once you understand the connections between "politicians" working with Corps and the united agenda to target and harm the masses: and that the chemicals and pharmacuticals work together as well: and that the FDA has employees from Monsanto the huge chemical company working for it; and that the PEOPLE are forced to buy from THEIR companies: and then we pay the SAME folks to get "cured" again when we are "ill" from the chemicals used in the food chain;
This of course is the "system" that they want to take globally and sadly have: when in truth: as the book Fuel shows there is an incredibly simple way for ALL people including huge cities to be fed easily and nutriciously, and inexpensively. However, it is not in the "self interest" of the corps and Gov to do so;
Just as they denied our farmers plans which were tremendous and wonderful: instead they took their farms away from them, for the "greater good" of their pocketbooks.
Hopefully one day soon: this will change!
You might check into share cropping/share farming with those in your area; and carrots ARE far better than any bought in the grocery store or any agriculture farm!
Good luck in your journey toward far better health for you and your family!

what beautiful chickens you have!
Friday, October 01, 2010 | By MzScarlett

Never realized this re chickens; love to see them and have loved the FLAVOR of eggs gotten FROM those fortunate enough to HAVE real chickens!
But it makes sense: I always have birds drinking and bathing in the 3 birdbaths in my tiny yard! And have seen them bathing in the middle of winter where a vehicle had broken thru the frozen ice!!!
Love to see a flock of birds come and go thru the sprinklers even at businesses; they have so much fun!
Thanks so much for sharing this with us; I never knew that chickens loved to "bathe" just as much as other birds!

check into the Christmas bazaar's!
Friday, October 01, 2010 | By MzScarlett

The Christmas bazaar's should be starting up just shortly; and that would be an excellent place to display and sell your jewelry I would think! Also, a consignment store that I go to occassionally has some beautiful hand crafted jewelry in it!
Yet another option might be to take pictures, and to display the pictures with prices (not all images just a couple) at the bulletin boards by the grocery stores! Sometimes in Fred Meyers, it's located in the hallway on the way to the drinking fountains and the bathrooms!
Good luck to you!
